SAFA, iCleen Hepa, and Allermed air purifiers: what to do if yours is no longer in production or available

Do you have an old SAFA, iCleen HEPA or Allermed air purifier that still works but you can no longer find filters or support? Here is the current situation and how to keep breathing clean air.

It happens often: you have an air purifier that still works well, but the brand no longer exists, the website is gone and you do not know where to find replacement filters or an equivalent model. If you are looking for information on purifiers such as SAFA FP, iCleen HEPA or Allermed, this guide explains the current situation and how to keep breathing clean air at home.

Why some air purifier brands can no longer be found

The air purifier market has changed a lot in recent years. Some historic brands have ceased trading, others have stopped producing certain models, and others were distributed only for a limited time in specific countries. The result is that many people find themselves with a perfectly working unit but without a clear channel for spares, support or replacement.

The good news is that, in most cases, there is a current alternative of the same level and, very often, compatible filters.

The brands no longer available

SAFA (Italian brand)

An Italian air purifier brand, which I founded personally years ago and later sold. It is no longer on the market and the old safa.it website is no longer active. If you own a model from the FP line you can still use it: in many cases it is possible to find compatible filters and a current reference model.

iCleen HEPA (Incen AG, Switzerland)

Linked to the Swiss company Incen AG, these are now hard to find new: mainly used units appear on platforms such as eBay. As a current alternative, Austin Air purifiers offer medical-grade HEPA filtration combined with activated carbon, with filters designed to last a long time.

Allermed Air Purifier

In its versions with activated carbon it is out of production: several retailers list the units as no longer available, while in some cases still selling the replacement filters. If you own an Allermed unit, it is worth checking whether Austin Air filters are compatible with yours.

Are the replacement filters compatible with my purifier?

In most cases compatibility depends on two simple measurements: the diameter and the height of the cylindrical filter. To check, simply compare the dimensions of your old unit's filter with those of the Austin Air filters, which you can find on our comparison page, which also lists the filter dimensions, and on the individual product pages. If the diameter and height match, the filter is compatible.

You can browse the full range in the Austin Air replacement filters section and the entire line of Austin Air air purifiers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still buy a new SAFA, iCleen or Allermed purifier?

Generally no: these models are no longer in production or no longer distributed through official channels. Used units can sometimes be found, but without manufacturer warranty or support.

I own a unit from one of these brands: can I still find filters?

Often yes. In many cases the original Austin Air filters are compatible, provided the diameter and height match those of the current filter.

How do I know if an Austin Air filter is compatible with my unit?

Measure the diameter and height of your unit's cylindrical filter and compare them with the dimensions shown on our filter pages. If in doubt, write to us and we will help you check.

Can I ask for help choosing the right model?

Of course. Contact us, also via WhatsApp: we will guide you in choosing the most suitable Austin Air purifier and the right filter for your needs.
