Genuine VOC Carbon Wrap Pre-Filter (single piece) for the Austin “it” personal air purifier. Activated carbon wrap, which also traps larger particles, designed to enhance the reduction of odors, gases and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Service life of approximately 3 months under normal conditions: it is the shortest-lived spare in the range and should be replaced regularly to keep its effectiveness on odors. It does not replace the internal HEPA filter but works alongside it. Compatible exclusively with Austin “it”.

Every Austin Air filter is a complete cartridge: medical-grade HEPA for fine dust, allergens and microplastics, and a bed of coconut shell activated carbon and zeolite (up to 6.8 kg in standard models, up to 2.7 kg in Junior models) for odors, gases and VOCs, including formaldehyde. Pre-filters are already included and filter life is up to 5 years in typical home use. They are original replacements, also suitable for people with multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS).
Filters are interchangeable: all standard units built from 1996 onwards (code starting with HM4…) accept all standard filters. You can therefore fit a Plus, Bedroom Machine or Immunity Machine filter on your HealthMate to increase protection against smoke, chemicals and gases, without replacing the whole unit. The same applies to Junior units (code HM2…).

How long does a filter last?
Up to 5 years in typical home use. In heavily contaminated environments (several pets, smoke, paint, new carpet, heavy urban pollution) it may need replacing sooner.
How do I know it needs replacing?
The two main signs are odors returning, when the carbon is saturated, and reduced airflow, when the HEPA filter is clogged.
Can I switch to another filter type?
Yes. All standard units built from 1996 onwards accept all standard filters (for example from HealthMate® to HealthMate Plus® or Bedroom Machine®); all Junior units accept all Junior filters (for example HealthMate Plus Junior). On the unit label, a code starting with HM4… means a standard model, HM2… a Junior.
What color is the pre-filter?
Every filter comes with the pre-filter already fitted, matched to the purifier color: white for White and Sandstone units, black for Black, Midnight Blue and Immunity Machine units. Pre-filters can also be purchased separately.
