Bedroom Machine® is the Austin Air purifier designed for the bedroom: five filtration stages to reduce particles, allergens, odors and VOCs during sleep, including substances released by mattresses, furniture and flooring. The filter pack combines pre-filters, about 5.6 m² of medical-grade HEPA, up to 6.8 kg of non-impregnated coconut shell activated carbon and zeolite, and military-grade HEGA carbon cloth. Thanks to the 360° intake, air passes slowly through the carbon layer surrounding the HEPA: a longer contact time favours adsorption. Steel housing, no ozone, filters lasting up to 5 years.

Military-grade HEGA cloth

Activated carbon cloth developed by the British Armed Forces in the 1970s: a fifth stage for further reduction of gases and odors. Austin Air also indicates it as extra protection against viruses.

Non-impregnated media

  1. Large-particle pre-filter: hair, coarse dust, fibers.
  2. Medium-particle pre-filter: fine dust and pollen.
  3. Activated carbon from coconut shell and zeolite, non-impregnated: household odors and VOCs.
  4. Medical-grade HEPA: fine particles such as PM2.5, allergens, bacteria and aerosolized particles*.

Maintenance, spares and what's in the box

  • Filter: up to 5 years in typical home use; in heavily contaminated environments it may need replacing sooner.
  • Pre-filter: vacuum it once a month without removing it, using the soft brush attachment (more often with pets).
  • Placement: on the floor, at least 10 cm from walls, with the top grille unobstructed. At night, use the low or medium speed for maximum acoustic comfort.
  • 2-year legal warranty (24 months) under the Italian Consumer Code.
  • 3-year commercial mechanical warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, automatic from delivery: product registration is not a condition, it is a recommended service. Details on the Legal, commercial and service warranty page.
  • The mechanical warranty does not cover filters. Defects resulting from the use of non-original spares are not covered, and the commercial extension to 36 months requires the use of original Austin Air spares.

Right of Withdrawal Notice: As this is an air purifier, the consumer is entitled to a brief functional test (power-on and control verification). Prolonged use causes immediate contamination of the filters with particles, allergens and pollutants: in that case the customer is responsible for the diminution in value of the goods (Art. 57, paragraph 2, Consumer Code) and the refund is reduced accordingly. Filters purchased separately cannot be returned if opened or if the original seal has been removed (Art. 59). Full details here.

Frequently asked questions

Bedroom Machine or HealthMate Plus?
Neither is better than the other: they enhance two different things, and the amount of activated carbon and zeolite is the same (up to 6.8 kg). The Bedroom Machine adds military-grade HEGA carbon cloth, without impregnated media, and is designed mainly for the bedroom; Austin Air also indicates it as extra protection against viruses. The HealthMate Plus instead has part of its carbon impregnated with potassium iodide, more effective on formaldehyde and aggressive chemicals: it is the typical choice for new or renovated homes and for wildfire smoke. If you want both, there is the Immunity Machine.
Is it suitable for small bedrooms?
Yes: use the lowest speed to keep noise and airflow gentle; keep the top grille unobstructed.
Is it suitable for people with MCS?
Yes. The Bedroom Machine uses non-impregnated activated carbon and zeolite, so it is one of the choices for those who prefer non-impregnated media.
