Which Austin Air model is most suitable for people with MCS?

It depends on individual sensitivities. All models use mechanical and adsorption filtration only, with no ozone and no ionization, and are therefore routinely used by people living with MCS. The HealthMate Plus® and the Immunity Machine contain potassium iodide-impregnated media, which give the greatest capacity against VOCs and intense odors: the difference compared with the HealthMate is not the quantity of carbon (up to 6.8 kg in both), but the type of material. Models with potassium iodide-impregnated media are also used regularly by a growing number of people with MCS; for those who prefer non-impregnated media, the alternatives are the HealthMate, Bedroom Machine and HealthMate Junior. Does Austin Air emit ozone or ions?

No. Austin Air uses only mechanical (HEPA) and chemical (activated carbon and zeolite) filtration. It does not emit ozone, does not ionize the air, and does not use UV rays.

Is the degassing service free of charge?

Yes, the degassing service is free upon request. It must be arranged before placing your order.

Can I receive the purifier without the filter to degas it myself?

No: Austin Air purifiers are shipped with the filter already installed. We prefer to handle the degassing process ourselves, with the agreed methods and timing, before shipping.
