Genuine VOC Carbon Wrap Pre-Filter (single piece) for the Austin “it” personal air purifier. Non-impregnated activated carbon wrap designed to enhance the reduction of odors, gases and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Service life of approximately 3 months under normal conditions: it is the shortest-lived spare in the range and should be replaced regularly to keep its effectiveness on odors. It does not replace the internal HEPA filter but works alongside it. Compatible exclusively with Austin “it”.
An Austin Air filter can last up to 5 years. If you divide the price by its lifespan, the running cost starts from about €4 per month. On the entry tier, less than many “cheap” filters replaced twice per year.
Austin Air filters combine up to 6.8 kg of activated carbon and zeolite (about 3 kg / 6.5 lb in Junior models) with a high-efficiency medical-grade True HEPA filter to capture fine dust, allergens, microplastics and help reduce odors and VOCs (including formaldehyde). The HEPA media retains very fine particles, including sizes compatible with aerosolized bacteria and viruses. Designed for consistent performance and a lifespan up to 5 years in typical residential use, they are also chosen by people with MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity).
Want to upgrade your purifier? Filters are interchangeable. If you own a Standard unit (HM400), you can install a Plus, Bedroom Machine or Immunity Machine filter to increase protection against smoke, chemicals and gases without replacing the entire machine.

When to replace the filter
In typical residential use, the filter can last up to 5 years; in environments with smoke, strong odors or heavy pollution, earlier replacement may be necessary.
If you notice a clear drop in airflow, odors that no longer improve, or intensive use (24/7 at higher speeds), consider replacing the filter sooner.
To maintain performance over time, periodically vacuum the external grilles and pre-filters, following the instructions provided on the product pages.
